The polythermal ice cap Vestfonna covers an area of 2340 km2 (Reference Braun Braun and others, 2011) of the island Nordaust-landet (northernmost Svalbard archipelago) at around 80° N extending between sea level and ∼630 m a.s.l. The dynamics of Vestfonna ice cap (Svalbard) are dominated by fast-flowing outlet glaciers. Its mass balance is poorly known and affected dynamically by these fast-flowing outlet glaciers. Hence, it is a challenging target for ice flow modeling. Vestfonna is an ice cap located on the western part Nordaustlandet in the Svalbard archipelago in Norway. The glacier covers an area of about 2,500 km 2. It is the third largest ice cap in Svalbard and Norway by area, after Austfonna and Olav V Land .
